DeFiLlama’s Narrative Tracker showed that memes ranked fifth over the last seven days and outperformed Bitcoin, Ethereum and NFTs but could not get past the king of memes, Solana.

Official Inquiry Into Milei’s Libra

Argentina’s Chamber of Deputies has launched a formal investigation into President Milei’s LIBRA meme coin scandal after the token’s sudden collapse wiped out over $280 million from nearly 75,000 investors.

In a special session on April 8, lawmakers passed three key resolutions: forming an investigative commission, summoning top government officials for questioning, and demanding detailed reports on the government’s involvement in LIBRA’s development and promotion.

Conor McGregor’s Meme Coin Flops

Conor McGregor’s highly promoted meme coin, REAL, has failed to meet expectations after raising only $392,000, just 39% of its $1 million minimum presale goal. As a result, the project has been paused and all funds have been refunded to participants.
The 28-hour sealed-bid auction, organized by the Real World Gaming DAO, aimed to sell 60 million tokens but attracted only 668 participants. REKT! The meme coin market clearly still suffers from PTSD following recent scandals like LIBRA. Even with backing from Animoca Brands and KuCoin Labs, REAL failed to attract the degens.

Raydium Faces Threat From Pump.fun

Raydium has increased its dominance in Solana-based meme coin trading to 83% over the past three months. It’s growing share is largely attributed to its unofficial partnership with Pump.fun, which creates over 50% of SPL tokens.
This dominance may be threatened, though. Pump.fun has launched its own decentralized exchange (DEX), potentially cutting off the flow of new tokens to Raydium. While Raydium has responded with its own platform, LaunchLab, the community-driven nature of Pump.fun may be difficult to compete with.

Melania Trump’s Meme Coin Team Sells Tokens

Melania Trump’s meme coin project, MELANIA, is under investigation after blockchain analytics firm Bubblemaps reported that the team quietly began selling $30 million worth of tokens from the project’s community funds.

According to a post by Bubblemaps, 50 million MELANIA tokens were transferred to a single wallet, then split across multiple addresses. Of those, $3 million was sent to exchanges, two $6 million positions were opened, and $500,000 was sold.
