Vicky Kaushal REACTS as ‘Chhaava’ has record-breaking opening day number: ‘Vishwar apke sath ho to yudh lage tyohaar’

Vicky Kaushal is celebrating the success of his latest film, ‘Chhaava‘, which has become the biggest Hindi opener of 2025, earning ₹31 crore on its release on February 14. This also marks Kaushal’s biggest opening as a leading man. It tells the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, with Kaushal in the lead role. He shared his gratitude on social media for the overwhelming love the film is receiving.
The actor shared heartfelt moments from Chhaava’s promotional events on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming love and support he has received. He stated, “Aapke pyaar ne #Chhaava ko sachmuch Zinda kar diya!!! All your messages, calls… all the videos you all are sharing of your experience of watching CHHAAVA… I’m seeing it all… taking it all in. Thank you for all your love… Grateful to each and every one of you for celebrating the glory of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Vishwar apke sath ho to yudh lage tyohaar. #CHHAAVA IN CINEMAS!!!”.

Before ‘Chhaava’ hit theaters, ‘Sky Force’, starring Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya, had the biggest Hindi opening of 2025, with ₹15.3 crore. However, trade analyst Taran Adarsh brought up concerns that the producers of ‘Sky Force’ were buying tickets in bulk to inflate box office numbers, leading to controversy. Despite this, ‘Sky Force’ had a good run, earning over ₹111 crore.
Kaushal’s previous best opening was ‘Bad Newz’, which pulled in about ₹8 crore on day one. But get this: Chhaava’s debut is seriously impressive. Its opening day haul of ₹31 crore almost equals the combined earnings of Kaushal’s last six movies in theaters – ‘Sam Bahadur’ (₹5 crore), ‘The Great Indian Family’ (₹1 crore), ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke’ (₹5 crore), ‘Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship’ (₹5 crore), and even his breakout hit, ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ (₹8 crore).
‘Chhaava’ is adapted from Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel Chhava, the movie is directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films. The cast also includes Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna.
