“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Teddi Mellencamp is feeling a lot of emotions as she goes through divorce. She was married to Edwin Arroyave for 13 years before ending things. In a new podcast, the reality star discussed how she feels going through this challenging time.
“There’s moments that I’m feeling now, where I feel really lonely and I don’t know if those loneliness feelings mean that I’ve made a mistake or this is just something I have to get used to and this is the new change in my life. Oh my gosh, I’m so embarrassed I’m getting emotional, but that it is such a confusing part of all of this,” Mellencamp said on the January 16 episode of her “Diamonds in the Rough” podcast.
Mellencamp filed for divorce in November 2024. She and Arroyave have three kids together.
Teddi Mellencamp Said She Also Feels ‘So Much Shame’
Psychotherapist Dr. Nadine Macaluso was a guest on the podcast and chatted with Mellencamp about her roller coaster of emotions.
“It’s a constant ache that I’m trying to, like, fake my way through,” Mellencamp said of the loneliness. When Macaluso mentioned feelings of shame, Mellencamp responded, “So much shame.”
Mellencamp announced her split on social media.
“After a great deal of care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken with their privacy and wellbeing throughout this new chapter. Making a public statement is not something I wanted to do but in an effort to protect my family from undue speculation and rumors, I felt being open, honest and vulnerable was the best path forward,” she wrote in a statement on November 2.
Rumors that Mellencamp had an affair while married to Arroyave have been plentiful. Reports that Mellencamp had an affair with married horse trainer Simon Schroeder — have circulated online. The reality star hasn’t confirmed nor denied the rumors, however.
“I’m sure everyone has seen everything all over the worldwide webshe said on a November episode of her “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast. “What I can say, which I’m trying very … there’s multiple sides to every story.”
“I’m not going to confirm or deny anything, but there’s many people involved,” she added.
Many fans took Mellencamp’s alleged affair into consideration when responding to her divorce comments, a Reddit thread shows.
“If it makes anyone feel better, Teddi is having a really hard time, said she cried for 10 hours the other day. So she feels the shame and guilt, as she should. That’s doesn’t make it okay or excusable by any means,” one person wrote.
“I know this sounds dramatic but it’s actually quite concerning to me how Teddi and her bestie Kyle cannot take any accountability. Is it some type of new cult or religion they’re apart of that encourages against it? It’s as delusional as Kelly Killeen Bensimon, just in a more articulate package,” someone else said.
