Bigg Boss 18’s Chum Darang reveals she was originally cast in Manoj Bajpayee’s The Family Man 3; here’s why she could not do the series

Bigg Boss 18 contestant Chum Darang recently disclosed that she was initially selected for a role in Manoj Bajpayee’s The Family Man 3. However, due to her participation in the reality show she had to leave the series. Recently, Chum appeared on a podcast, Small Talk with Koko where she disclosed the reason behind leaving the Manoj Bajpayee starrer series.
Speaking about the reason, “Yes, I was in Family Man 3 but I left it for Bigg Boss. I actually felt I won’t be able to survive inside Bigg Boss for too long. I know it takes a lot to survive inside and the journey is not going to be easy. Also I take time to open up with people, and that’s what exactly happened. Par jab open up hua toh acche se hua. So I initially thought I would be able to do both the projects but I couldn’t. It’s okay, hopefully I will get more offers like these in future.”
She further added, “Initially, I thought I would survive for three weeks, but after completing three weeks then I felt I could be here for 1 month, this just went on for two months and then 3 months. Mujhe laga ab 100 days toh complete karna he hai aisa karke finale tak hum pahuch gaya…”
Chum Darang revealed on Bharti Singh’s podcast that she landed her role in Gangubai Kathiawadi in quite an unexpected way. While in Delhi with her grandmother, who was experiencing knee pain, she stayed at her brother’s house. With no one else around to help record her audition, it was her elderly grandmother—who is in her 80s—who ended up filming the video.
Chum further continued, “The makers liked my audition video. I got a call and someone said ‘I’m speaking from Bhansali’s office.’ I told my best friend and my best friend told me it was fake but later I realised it was not fake and then it happened.”
When asked about her shooting experience with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Chum described how she was always terrified. She revealed she just had a few sequences with Alia Bhatt and that the filmmaker’s work is flawless.
Chum Darang shared that she was quite intimidated by Sanjay Leela Bhansali while filming Gangubai Kathiawadi. She admitted to feeling a constant sense of fear around the acclaimed director. She also revealed that Bhansali personally selected the colours of the costumes for each character in the film, ensuring that every detail aligned with his grand vision.
