‘AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan is man with a criminal nature’: Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva labeled Okhla’s AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan as having a criminal nature, accusing him of manipulating the law multiple times

NEW DELHI: Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Wednesday said that Okhla’s AAP MLA, Amanatullah Khan, was a man with a “criminal nature” who has repeatedly tried to manipulate the law.
Sachdeva’s comments came after Delhi Police launched a search for Khan, who was booked for allegedly leading an attack on police officers and threatening them in Jamia Nagar. The FIR registered against Khan states that he obstructed police from carrying out their duty, manhandled officers, and facilitated the escape of an accused.
Sachdeva said, “MLA Amanatullah Khan is a man with a criminal nature. There are already several cases pending against him, in which he has repeatedly tried to manipulate the law. What he has done now is to save an accused in a murder. Such people should be punished under the law.”
The incident occurred on February 10 at around 3 PM when a Delhi Police Crime Branch team went to Jogabai Extension in Jamia Nagar to arrest Shavej Khan, one of the accused in a 2018 attempted murder case. According to the FIR, Amanatullah Khan and his supporters tried to obstruct police officers from making the arrest, leading to a scuffle.
Following this, Delhi Police registered a case against Khan under Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) sections 221, 121(1), 132, 191(2), 190, 263(b), 351(3), and 111. Police have been searching for him to interrogate him regarding the accused fleeing custody.
Meanwhile, Amanatullah Khan has denied the allegations, stating that he is not on the run. In an email to Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, he wrote: “Some people in Delhi police are implicating me in a false case. The person whom the police came to arrest is out on bail.”
Later, Khan also issued a public statement, reiterating: “I am in my assembly constituency, I have not fled anywhere. Some people from Delhi Police are implicating me in a false case… The person whom Delhi Police had come to arrest has already got bail. When the person showed his papers, the police are implicating me in a false case to hide their mistake.”
