When They Found Him He Was Trapped And Crying. Their Quick Actions Saved The Day!

Can you imagine how terrifying it would be to get trapped and have nobody to help because they can’t hear or see you?

I have no idea how hopeless it would feel to struggle for hours and get nowhere in the process — all while knowing that help wasn’t likely to come.

That’s probably exactly how this cat felt when he fell into a storm drain in Greece — that is, until somebody finally noticed him. When volunteers from Second Chance Animal Rescue Society (SCARS) heard his cries from down the street, they dropped everything and ran to rescue him. Watching them work together to pull him out, you’ll agree that they’re true heroes.

The poor little guy was so scared that he couldn’t stop crying when they gave him food.

It only takes one person who cares to make a huge difference. Now excuse me while I go give my cats big hugs (and get scratched in the process). If you’d like to donate to SCARS so they can keep doing amazing work, you can do so here.

They Saw This Puppy Near A Busy Road, And What Happened Next Melted My Heart

A puppy named Fram was living a dirty, flea-ridden life by the side of a busy road before volunteers from a rescue organization called Howl of a Dog spotted him on a rescue mission one day. The little guy was clearly disoriented and he was venturing too close to traffic, so they had to act fast.

Before disaster could strike, however, he warmed up to the team (and made everyone melt in the process).

Fram is not only a fluffy bundle of joy, but he’s also very smart, playful, and friendly. He loves humans, other dogs, and even cats! He’s six months old and is now living at a rescue center while he waits for his forever family. If you want to help Howl of a Dog continue doing great work, consider donating!

This Kitten Looks Frightened ALL The Time (And He’s Precious)

It might look like this cat is totally petrified of life, but he’s not. That’s just his face.

He was born with absolutely huge eyes. His eyes are so big, in fact, that he can’t even close them when he sleeps. Most cats born with this condition have to undergo surgery, but so far, Herman is a healthy, loving kitty.

If nothing else, he’s a far cry from his kitten days, when the sickly little guy had to be hand fed to ensure his survival. The question on everyone’s minds, I’m sure, is this: How do you know he’s sleeping? Well, his mom says it’s easy to tell because he snores!

Meet Herman. Try not to die from the cuteness.

Need more Herman? I thought so.

I know what you’re all thinking because I’m thinking it, too. Where do I find one of these kitties for myself?

Watch As These Cute Kittens And Cats Take On Brooms In An Epic Battle.

The battle between cats and brooms is a rivalry so epic that it dates back centuries. This awesome fight started in a time when brooms had wooden handles and the bristles were made from broom corn.

This is a struggle that any cat owner knows well. You start to clean the house, and that’s when your feline friend decides it’s time to mess up your plans. Watch this adorable compilation video of cats fighting brooms below:

(Source: Fabulous Mr. Pug)

The best cats are those that latch onto the broom and cling on while the owner normally uses the broom. It’s as if there’s, say, not a cat on the broom. The owners are probably used to this behavior by now.

Cats Aren’t Alone, Even Spiders Feel The Need To Destroy Red Laser Pointers

By this point, most us have either experienced or at least know about cats’ universal spite for laser pointers. If you’ve never seen this uniquely entertaining form of cat play/torture, I highly recommend it.

If you’re not as into the furry pet variety, though, you can still have tons of laser pointer fun. Take this guy, for instance, who gets a friendly jumping spider to chase after the elusive red dot. While it’s a little less cute than watching a cat do it, it can still be pretty darned entertaining…

This could actually change the whole game of spider extermination. Instead of just squishing them, you can use a laser pointer to lead them harmlessly out of your house. It’s both humane and entertaining.

21 Dogs Who Have Absolutely No Idea How To…Well, Dog

Some pups are practically professionals at fetching, playing tug-of-war, cuddling, and just all-around being good dogs. Then there are those…special pooches who just missed the memo — or, perhaps the whole intro course on how to act according to the dog rule book.

That doesn’t mean we love them any less — in fact, we might just love them more for their quirky ways!

1. Take this guy who has zero clue how to drink water.

2. This genius who can’t decide if he wants on or off the couch.

3. This little guy tried to fetch…a little too hard.

4. This pup has the whole fetch thing down, but the execution is all wrong.

5. Then there’s this dog who doesn’t care about your stupid Frisbee.

6. This pup who thinks playtime involves rocking horses.

7. This dog is too far gone.

8. This dog totally forgot about his species’ love for tennis balls.

9. And this dog just doesn’t understand that stairs aren’t for sleeping on.

10. At least he’s not like this one who just doesn’t do stairs, period.

11. What about this dog who doesn’t understand couches? Not. One. Bit.

12. Or this dog who is betraying his entire species.

13. And this one forgot that cats and dogs just don’t get along.

14. Then there’s this pup who forgot how to be a lap dog.

15. Or this little guy who doesn’t know how to enjoy a car ride.

16. This one forgot that heads go out the window…not through the headrest.

17. This dog who can’t dog door.

18. And this pooch completely forgot that belly rubs are best enjoyed lying down.

19. Then there’s this pup who defies all conventions by never wanting to go for a walk.

20. This one got outside but forgot how to walk.

21. This pup has no clue that he’s supposed to hate baths.

Maybe all these dogs were just assembled wrong? That might explain a thing or two…

Instead Of Letting His Friend Sit In Her Crate, This Cat Orchestrated A Jailbreak

For a little chihuahua named Maddie, spending time in her pen is a daily headache. When her humans aren’t home (or when the rowdy girl needs a time-out), that’s exactly where they put her. Luckily for Maddie, however, she has a clever buddy that always helps her escape.

The jailbreaking pet in question is an 11-month-old kitten named Rudy, and when Maddie wants a little freedom, he is the pup’s go-to guy.

According to their owner, “Rudy has become very attached to Maddie, and they’re now the best of friends!”

I knew it! Cats are way too smart for their own good…and ours.

Three Cheetahs Corner Their Antelope Dinner. Then, Um…Do What?

More often than not, when predators and prey interact in nature, the outcome is deadly. But something happened on the plains of Kenya’s Masai Mara that was so delightful, it left witnesses completely stunned. Three cheetahs stumbled across a baby antelope and what they decided to do with it was so cute, it was literally going against nature.

The three male cheetahs weren’t interested in eating the little guy. Instead, they wanted to play!

Unlike other big cats, cheetahs hunt during the daytime. But, after a hunt, they are usually tuckered out from having to use so much energy to run.

Which is probably why they weren’t interested in gobbling up the little cutie.

After teasing and pawing at the tiny impala, they finally let him go. He darted away, not knowing he just escaped death.

If only this is how Mother Nature acted all of the time. I never really agreed with Mufasa’s whole “Circle of Life” thing from The Lion King.

Here’s a video with the same pictures but a little more info:

This Real-Life Condition Humans And Animals Deal With Looks Like The Stuff Of Legends

We as humans enjoy conjuring up fantastical stories and legends. In the 8th century BC, Homer wrote about cyclopes in his epic poem “The Odyssey” — but did he know that he was writing about a real medical condition?

I never knew that cyclopes existed outside of stories, but it turns out that “cyclopia” is a real birth defect that occurs in both humans and animals. Cyclopia happens when the orbits of the eyes fail to develop into two spheres, causing a single eye to form in the center of the face.

Cyclopia occurs in as many as 1 in 200 miscarried fetuses. Like the eye, the brain is often fused as well, and fails to develop into separate hemispheres.

Fetuses with cyclopia usually miscarry, but on the rare occasion that they survive until birth, they die within a few hours or days.

Causes of death vary, but suffocation due to lack of a mouth or an underdeveloped respiratory system is common. In the case below, the fetus was preserved for study.

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.defineSlot(‘/37886402/VN_PG_DCI1_BTF’, [300, 250], ‘VN_PG_DCI1_BTF_580ad139890e3’).addService(googletag.pubads()) googletag.pubads().setTargeting(“NOVA_MB”, “VN_”); googletag.pubads().setTargeting(“NOVA_SC”, “VN_ORGN”); googletag.pubads().setTargeting(“NOVA_TS”, “TS_D”); googletag.pubads().setTargeting(“NOVA_AT”, “VN_ORGN_PG_D_REV_1.0_ASYNC_DEFAULT”); googletag.pubads().setTargeting(“NOVA_CC”, “VN_ORGN_D_UNK_118124_A”); googletag.pubads().setTargeting(“NOVA_PG”, “1”); googletag.enableServices(); googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCI1_BTF_580ad139890e3’); });

As if cyclopia wasn’t already strange enough, the condition is often accompanied by a “proboscis anomaly,” which presents as a tube-like structure in the middle of the face. Sometimes (though not in this example) a nose and nostrils also develop.

Cyclopia doesn’t just affect humans. It’s estimated that it occurs in as many as 1 out of every 16,000 animal births. It’s been observed in sharks, cats, lambs, pigs, and even this horse skull that dates back to 1841.

Like humans, animals with cyclopia often die in the womb or soon after birth. Scientists preserve what they can for study.

This child is only hours old, but it seems to be aware that something is very wrong. Sadly, it died a little later.

To learn more about cyclopia, check out this video. The child it features was born without a mouth and suffocated instantly at birth.

Well, I’m thoroughly disturbed. That’s enough internet for me today!

You Really Need To See Cats Trying To Walk Around In Socks…Like, Right Now

Cats are one of the great joys in life (and on the Internet).

You may have seen every funny cat video out there from angry kittens to excitable balls of fluff, but unless you’ve seen cats trying to walk around in socks, you haven’t truly lived. And even if you have seen cats in socks, a compilation of many cats in many socks is a laugh-out-loud funny way to remind yourself just how much you love your furry friends.

I dare you to try to keep a straight face while these kitties try to figure out how their feet work again.

Aww, poor babies. At least they’ve got them on their feet and not stuck on their faces! Small victories, friends.
